Shanto Rahman

shanto.rahman [at] utexas.edu

I am Shanto Rahman, a final-year Ph.D. student in Software Engineering and Systems at the University of Texas at Austin, advised by August Shi. My research interests are at the intersection of Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, with a focus on Testing of Software Systems and AI Models to make them robust, reliable, and safe.

I design and build tools that make large-scale software and AI systems more reliable and easier to test. My research prioritizes practical applicability—ensuring innovations are not only efficient in theory, but also usable and reliable in practice. I've developed tools such as: FlakyLens (OOPSLA'25), a fine-tuned LLM that classifies flaky tests by root cause and explains the LLM's prediction, FlakeSync (ICSE'24), an automated approach to repair async flaky tests; and UTFix (OOPSLA'25), an LLM-powered system for change-aware unit test repair.

🌟 I am on the academic job market this year and seeking a tenure-track faculty position.
